We’re pleased to announce our new 3DR Radio. Featuring interchangeable air and ground modules (both with native USB connectors), Android tablet compatibility, and a protective case, our new radio delivers unparalleled ease of use for viewing in-flight data, changing missions on the fly, and tuning.
Quite a bit of work went into the new radio design. Our first version was simply a carrier board for the radio module, providing a power supply, an antenna connector and a way to connect to the autopilot or the computer. Our new radio provides an EMI shield over the radio module, EMI filtering chips on all power and signal lines, USB and autopilot connectivity options on the same board, and an enclosure for protection and easy mounting.
Each Telemetry Kit comes with two modules, two antennas, and cables to connect to Pixhawk, APM, PX4, laptop, and Android tablet/phones.

Sorry for the rather off-topic question, but can somebody help me to create such extended legs on my 3DR X8? What parts would I have to buy and where to find those?

I just received the new 915MHz telemetry radios and they seem to work fine. They have the latest firmware installed which is version 1.7.
I believe that the price for the 433MHz radios is the same as the 915MHz radios which is $99 USD. If you click on the 433MHz button selector, the frequency of the radio in in the price block changes to 433MHz, but the price stays the same at $99 USD.

I see they are shown on 3DR online store, however without pricing info, any update on cost and release date? Hoping that Mr Clause brings me a pair for Xmas. Thanks.

+1 on the EU pricing typo. $99? plus the $38 postage? and the duty?
So for this "bargain" price I get more weight, the utterly stupid 6/5 connector (please, please, please 3DR...use "standard" 5/5 or 6/6!), and no increase in dB gain?
USB, PX4 cabling and RF filtering will be useful though...but not $137 more useful.
Guy, we're using FTDI's FT231X full handshake USB to UART chip. The driver is the same VCP driver used for the FT232R but is smaller, and keeps compatibility with Android devices (Droidplanner and AndroPilot both support these radios already.)
I take it these are backwards compatible then? Any word on the digital airspeed sensor and other accessories for the Pixhawk?
