Introducing the JetQuad: Quad Jet-Engine VTOL Drone

We recently completed a first successful flight test of the JetQuad: Quad Jet-Engine VTOL Drone. The JetQuad combines the best from the world of VTOL drones and jet-aircraft. The drone utilizes four microturbines and thrust vectoring systems to achieve vertical take-off and landing as well as stable hover. Packs a combined 200hp from all four turbines and carries a 5-gallon diesel tank. This is the only drone of its kind where the turbines are used both for attitude control, vertical flight, and horizontal flight.

  • Microturbines have had a huge drop in prices in the last 10 years.  They used to be $5000 & only sold by Jetcat.  Now China sells them for $1500.  Surprising they have to be mounted horizontally.  That nozzle wastes a lot of energy.  We've all seen the jet suits from Gravity Industries & they seem to work fine vertically.  Just can't imagine a place which allows something that noisy while also near jobs providing the $1500.
