3689612483?profile=originalThe forces of bureaucratic darkness have obliged us to relocate the planned launch of the Low Orbit Helium Assisted Navigator (LOHAN) mission to Spaceport America in New Mexico.

You can read the whole epic saga behind the decision right here, but suffice it to say we're heading down to Kickstarter next week to raise cash to cover the extra costs of finally getting the Vulture 2 in the air.

Have a look at the preview here and give us your thoughts. If you're interested in backing our audacious ballocket flight, you can sign up at the top of  preview for en email alert when the campaign kicks off.

We're currently awaiting final approval from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). While we have no reason to believe it won't be granted, there's the possibility that a delay will knock back the planned launch. Suffice it to say, we'll get in the air.

I wish you good luck, and let's hope the FAA are expedient with that drone use. With them potentially missing their 2015 mandate, I wouldn't hold your breath. I look forward to my mug. Good luck!

Not hand rolled on the thigh of a maiden? Marvelous I wish you all the best with the Kickstarter.

  • Hmmm. I believe your beer mug is currently being lovingly engraved by experts somewhere on an industrial estate near Basingstoke. Airsteam, eh? I like it.

Where's my beer mug. I keep seeing a really nice looking airstream trailer in 3DR videos that would make a great mission control.

  • The campaign's actually live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vulture2spaceplane/balloon-lau...

@Lester yes that's the one. I think he would be very interested. If all he does is flights it would be good. When the kickindigobegginghat happens sUAS News will contribute.

  • I hope bringing this to the US proves to be a solution.

Lately the FAA has not been bringing much cheer to our side of the pond.

And I suspect the few remaining US amateur / model rocketeers are on the FAAs Christmas list for some switches and lumps of coal real soon now too.

The totem of drone has come to blight us all.

In any case maybe excessive doom and gloom and I wish you all the luck in the world.

    Best Regards,

    Gary

I think you should reach out to the bearded island owner yet to have carnal knowledge.
