It says world's first, but i swear there was already an Analog Devices onearound , but very pricey... Anyway, I cant wait to see this in a RC plane. Speaking of Jeff Han: Jeff pointed me to this new device, recently announced by Analog Device. Many people were anxiously waiting for something like this to appear: single chip that contains 3 accelerometers and 3 gyroscopes that can be used to build a full, 6 degree of freedom inertial measerument unit (IMU).

Interesting stuff, I am working on a IDG-500 plus ISZ-500 plus freescale mma7361 IMU - looks like this might be an interesting digital variant of that. Having issues finding the ISZ-500 tho...
From the block diagram the ADC is included into the accelero wich seems like a bit of an odd solution to me, why not make the gyros digital already?
@Chris - After your question regarding whether a daughter board is required I wrote to Invensense. No daughter board is required. All 3 chips mount directly and horizontally onto the PCB. Here is the answer from one of their technical people:-
Hi Peter,
Yes, that is the intent of the ISZ family of gyros. This will sense the
rotation of the application around the normal axis to the plane of the PCB
in which the ISZ is mounted. Mounting an ISZ and IDG on the same PCB will
allow for 3 axis of angular rate sensing. No daughter card mounded
perpendicularly will be needed with ISZ.

Hmm... Apparently I2C / SPI can read analog voltages since the accelerometers don't seem to be connected to ADC's like the external gyros in their block diagram.
They planned on a 3 axis gyro in a chip 2 years ago. Now they're trying to sell you an IDG + ISZ combination as the world's first 3D solution. Even with inflation, they're still more expensive than a bag full of LISY300AL's. They're right about having the world's smallest 3 axis solution.
