New product in the DIY Drones store: APM telemetry kit!

3689402008?profile=originalCheck it out: an all-in-one telemetry kit for ArduPilotMega, all set up and ready to go! No more fussing around with Xbee configuration. $165 for the total, which includes the custom configuration.

 

In this kit you will find everything you need to add telemetry features to your aircraft set up. The Xbee modules come paired up and ready to use!  Included with this kit:
- 1x XtreamBee Board (The one manufactured by DIYDrones!), including the two female connectors and right angle connectors.
- 1x XBee-PRO 900 extended range module w/ RPSMA connector and duck antenna
- 1x XBee-PRO 900 extended range module w/ wire antenna
- 1x Xbee Explorer Dongle (USB adapter for the Xbee module!)

    I believe with the adoption of mavlink protocol, the +++ issue is resolved.

    @ Pete,

    I've seen the kit listed at cool, I have not used it with any of the GCS's found hear, do you have any experience first hand? I'm looking to stock a telemetry kit here in the UK and have been in contact with Chris already to see what needs to be done to make the 2.4 xbees work here in the UK & EU markets.

    The 868's are a non starter, see this blog if you like a read:

    But to save time, just know they are not a good route to take. One of my customers has been trying to get them working well for some time!

    Fantastic idea that will make it a lot easier for first timers to get the right equipment. Am I missing a detail though, or is this going to be a let down for anyone who orders a mega kit, telem kit, but doesn't know they need to buy some of these?

    You can add a SMA connector to the wire Xbee, but requires some good skills, I have replaced my worn out wire antenna too.

    AFAIK, wire antenna will have a lower gain (and, hence, range), but is smaller and lighter. I assume that's why it was chosen. (telemetry isn't mission critical, weight and flight range/duration are)

    rpsma has longer range. It's a bit bulkier, so we tend to use the smaller wire antenna one one the plane, but you can use whatever you want.

    Whats the use of using two diff type of xbee 900 (wire & rpsma) it there any problem if i go for for both xbee 900 wire or both xbee 900 rpsma.

     

    Is there any difference in terms of their range capabilities
