This and the chaos communication congress are a good contrast between Germany & US. Germans have robot conventions. We have home improvement & mortgage conventions.
This particular event was part of a larger conference that included presentation of a number of academic papers. I believe the indoor event was only r/c with timed laps, though most of the teams were from universities. Looks like overall this was very interesting conference - location was in the home town of the Zeppelin.
