Now this is a DIY Quadcopter!

Why was I making terrible bookends in shop class when I could have been making this? From the Ponoko blog, a laser cut wooden quad. It uses the Mikrokopter electronics and came in second at the Minnesota State Fair (beaten out by a DIY rocket that made it to 10,000 feet). More from the project's Instructables page.

Haha , that looks something "Captin Nemo" would design :), and would come out of the “Nautilus” to explore the surroundings .

Just checked out the Mikrokopter electronics linked in the Instructables page. $620 for the board+GPS, and it's closed source (limits range you can travel, etc)! Maybe we should send this guy an APM (less than half the price) so he can see the Open Source light...

Yeah that's a beauty.. only thing that does not fit is those horrible greenish landing tubes. It should have nice wooden skid or something :)
