Nvidia TX1 SE kit a steal at $200.00

Hi all, long time no post, but this is too good.
3689719623?profile=originalThose of you doing development want this.
At $200.00 it is 3 times cheaper than the TX1 normal development kit/board and the only difference is no camera module, but any USB camera can be used.

Not quite the poop of the TX2, but for object avoidance or even navigation, by far the best / cheapest deal anywhere.

You will need to sign up as a Nvidia developer, but easy peasy.

If you really want to do neat stuff, this is what you need.

Best regards,

Gary

  • Hi Mario, My charge was $28.00 for tax and shipping in California.
It looks like you are being handled by an out of country third party, you need to email or speak to actual US Nvidia personnel to get this straightened out.

Call Nvidia support (or email them) and get them to put you in touch with a native English speaking person in the US who actually understands taxes in US and Canada and explain the situation to them.

Mine arrived about a week after I ordered it and it really is the great deal it looks like.

It was double boxed and well packed (my cat is now asleep in the outer box).

The TX 1 will do everything the TX2 will do, just + or - about 1/2 as fast so good for development and if not fast enough just upgrade to a TX2.

Software should be fully compatible, but may benefit from a few minor tweaks for the TX2 if you later go that way.

Best of luck getting this straightened out, Nvidia is great to work with this third party shipper, maybe not so much.

    Best of Luck,  :)

    Gary

Please read this below and tell me I am wrong, I am mistaken and should not have blown a fuse.

Are you blind or what??? can't you see that it is your system that is charging me a tax !!!! There is no one to contact in my country about that, they won't have a clue about your disguised tax. This is a scam from NVidia. You are a bunch of idiot. Forget it...I am posting this email chain on social medias right now to show the world the kind of assholes you are!

So many different jerks in NVidia support...None of them have the same answer. Is there a manager somewhere that check you? I doubt it because a good company manager would fired you all.

BULLSHIT !!!! The tax amount that you are charging is not matching any
Canadian taxes and brokerage fee are always taken care by the buyer
    when

the package arrive in Canada. Go on and keep writing stuff that will

realise how stupid  youre answers are and finally check your billing

    intend

    Hello again,

I was expecting more customer service than that stupid answer you
provided me. What can you not understand? The order never went thru

    me
with nonsense answer and then you ask for a satisfaction survey. Let
    me
tell you I will fill a survey by escalading this higher to your

I am not talking about a tax exemption, I am talking about the fact

  • Bad luck for us, the developers in Europe... no financial support for being a developing country any more, either - mmmhh...

  • +1 if it works Fnoop :)

  • @benbojangles take a look at the recently released movidius neural compute stick.

  • Thanks, will take a look at Linus Tech Tips, should be interesting!

One thing that CNNs beat us humans at (and I find amazing from doing my tests) is that the GPU can process and identify over 28 airborne objects in under 0.2 seconds, distinguishing between birds, planes, drones. Better than we can ever do! The downside is poor Frames Per Second video processing.

I'm in London too now, you would think there's plenty of investors here, but they don't seem interested in 'just some hobbyist' - you need a Phd from Cambridge/Oxford/Imperial and research funding grants.

  • benbojangles - Doing it on the ground would perhaps be even easier, with you being able to return a loaner card. I reckon your location might be a sticking point, but an inside lead to the local distributor might be just the ticket.
  • benbojangles - Have you considered contacting Linus Tech Tips and pitching exploration of your idea as a partnership? Linus has the audience, the industry hook-ups and an insatiable appetite for compelling content. Pitch it just right and I cannot see him saying no to supplying you a suitable donor notebook for your purposes. It is interesting to consider just how much wattage is required to replace even the simplest of human functions, with current consumption on a notebook version of the 1080ti likely to have a baring on the minimum size and endurance of the craft, but at least cooling shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
  • Hi Gary,
We (I) can capture flight footage from the ground, it doesn't need to be on board the drone, and run it through the groundstation which runs a CNN. I just cannot afford to buy a GTX 1080 or Titan. Else I would be up and developing back in January. Ho-hum.
