Parrot AR.Drone now available for pre-order at Brookstone

Thanks to commentor John Wright for being the first to notice that the Parrot AR.Drone is now available for pre-order at its exclusive US retailer, Brookstone. $299.99, as promised, expected to ship September 3rd. I've got a review unit coming to me and should be able to do a comprehensive review here by then.

Are those geared motors or indirect drive?

I'm not sure I understand the difference between geared motors and indirect drive, but each motor has a small gear that drives a large gear attached to the prop. Although the prototypes were available in both brushed and brushless varieties, it appears that the production version is brushless.

That answers it. thought it might have geared outrunners or something, but guess it is like a heli having a brushless geared up to the prop main drive. Is that so it can use smaller motors?

yes, if i recall; there are two cameras. one up front, and one straight down.
