Congrats to the XCraft team, who after two successful Kickstarter projects (the PhoneDrone and the Pixhawk-powered VTOL XPlusOne), raised $1.5m at a $6m valuation from all five judges on Shark Tank.
But why wait for that to come out? Thanks to Gary Mortimer, you can build your own now!

The PhoneDrone project is quite intriguing. *If* they can pull it off .... The idea is awesome, but it seems to me there may be some serious obstacles to overcome.. That's ok, that's part of the game, but there may be also be some actual deal breakers, at least with the sort of objectives they've been announcing, support for a wide range of phones, full autonomous flight, selfies, etc ...
Starting with existing GPS and other sensors quality on the phones, real time interfacing, and phone payload weight,... A 150g phone like an S5, for instance, is not going to be lifted by the frame/motor/prop combination they've been showing so far. And all that by summer 2016? I wish them luck though, even a toned down version of their project would be amazing ...
Crazy, is it supposed to use differential thrust for both pitch and yaw? Kind of feels like we're reliving the early aviation era of the 1900s except it's for UAS development.
Quadshot is no more. They released a new VTOL aircraft, called Jumpship, and I'll just show you it without comment so you can decide if this is likely to be popular. You might even say that they "jumped" the "shark" ;-)
looks like a Quadshot
