Project multirotor starting up.

I'm gathering information about multirotor controls and different type of ready products on wwwInteresting web site's on this projecthttp://www.draganfly.com/http://www.walkera.com/en1/particular.jsp?pn=UF0+4%23http://www.asctec.de/main/index.php?id=15&pid=14&lang=en&cat=hobbyAnd couple forumsAnd this ArduPilotPro sound good for this projectIf somebody find good website for this project i'm more than happy if you post www address for me :)Sorry my english but i hope you understand me...

Chris, I'm sorry if it sounded like that - and now that I read my post again it did sound like I owned the world - but I in no way intented to eliminate the discussion on quad-copters or make it seem somehow inappropriate since quad-copter is, after all, a good platform for an UAV. The point of my post was that ArduPilot Pro isn't a "ready product" from the quad point of view although it'd be interestiong to see it working on a quad.

Sorry about that again; I quess it's the combination of me being socially clumsy and writing in a foreign language. :/
  • Thanks for all comments, and nice to see that here is some other finn's.
I tell some basics from this project and why i started this.

I have some feeling of the RC:world from few helis and couple planes and now i want to learn&study some basics of UAV and if my skill is good enough i will build this project first RC and then add UAV functions.

I have not introduce my self yet but now i will.
I'm kind of amateur from finland and i allways been interester all type of electronics, mecanical and autonomous robotics.
I have studiet electonics in vocational school three years and now i have studied to machine metals and i work on factory couple years what have big bohring machine with cnc.
My hobbies are computers and RC.

I started this project because i want to learn basics of UAV and make this UAV-RC combination and i want to see how much there is functions what it can do autonomous without human control.

@sami: Questions about quadrotors are very appropriate here at DIY Drones, and he didn't post in one of the ArduPilot Pro sections. This is a good subject for us and I welcome Ari's participation.
  • Here is one right off the diydrones page. http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/vicacopter-30-4-u
  • There is a bunch of information on rcgroups.com (too many threads to post here). I have not however seen someone document all the required parts (I know you need at least 2 gyros) and a beginning to end build process. I've been thinking about putting one together myself, if I do so I will do my best to document it throughly.

Oh. Ok.. I quess Jack Crossfire just answered your question (front page) and I quess I was wrong about quad-copter being expensive too...

Shit happens... And then it happens to you, you know.. ;)

    Hi!

Your name sounds rather finnish to me; En ookkaan näköjään ainoa suomalainen amatööri UAV-harrastaja. ;)

But I'll rather answer your question in English so that other readers can get something out of this post as well (eventhough I'm convinced that Finnish should be everyone's number 1 foreign language :) .

Correct me if I'm wrong but I understood that you'd be interested in building your own quad-copter or something similar with UAV-functionalities etc. and to do this with ArduPilot Pro..?

First of all I've got to say that I try to avoid all kinds of helis like plague since they are really expensive to buy (doh!?) and use and, above all, hard to fly. I must admit, though, that I've never laid my hands (or eyes) on a quad-copter before... But anyways: For what I know ArduPilot Pro isn't exactly designed to fly a quad-copter (or any 3-D heli for that sence) although it could be possible mod it to fly one by adding atleast tilt compensated compass sensor and rewriting some of the code. - - So the question is whether you were looking for a ready-to-go autopilot for your quad-copter or just a good platform to start your project on; ArduPilot Pro could in some circumstances be this platform since it has some free analog input ports provided on the PCB and it ought to have some spare CPU time too for your instable quad-copter although I recon that you'd be better off with an IMU based autopilot..?

You didn't mention whether you were new to RC and UAV so I assume you have previous experience in the field of RC/UAV. (If you're new to UAVs and RC in general, however, - and although it's strictly none of my business - I'd recommend that you start off somewhere else than copters; trashing your 500€ copter on it's maiden flight is something you wouldn't want anyone to experience.)

Someone who actually knows something about this subject could have probably answered your question better but I just had to make this post for there aren't too many finnish UAV enthusiasts around.. ;)

Meni vähän tollaseks liirum-laarumiks mut toivottavasti autto. Muilla jäsenillä on varmasti linkkejä tarjota; itte oon sen verran laiska kaveri, etten nyt jaksa ruveta ettimään... :/ Mut toivottavasti lähtee UAV-harrastus hyvin alkuun.. Jos jottain kyssää nii pistä vaan YV:tä tulemaan..
