  • my guess would be it doesn't update unless its told to.

    this type of unit only updates when you hit a button and to use this with the micro processor of auto pilot you going ot scrap most of it. you're not going to get the raw data from this because the chip the crunchs the numbers outputs the data as the LCD display.

    this meansyour either going to take the LCD feed and reincode it for the auto pilot to use or your going to have to take the sensor ans junk the rest of the unit. don't take me the wrong way, I'm not saying you can't do that ( in fact it could be fun if you're into the electronics side of these things and this can still be the cheeper way to going if that range is true.) but basicly just buy this for the ultrasonic transducer (the laser is just a pointer BTW) and you're going be making new electronics to drive it.

    still something to look into tho.
  • the bad thing is that its range starts at 1' 6". I wonder how fast it updates?
