I have a lot of work still to do adding graphic controls and mission planning via GSM/google. Both board options have an oboard SD card, both support touch screens, both run at 100mhz from a 5 volt supply. There are some much faster 3.3v versions (with 5 serial) due later this year that will make connecivity simpler.

  • I'm keen to get hold of any help of images for this. I'm not working in labview but have a c# version in the making

The instrument controls are now arranging correctly, allow you to resize and the google map is positioning (still crude). I have made an msi installer because some people have reported missing .net framework version using the .exe. Still doesn't work with the IMU but it will do over the next week or so.

As a stress test the view menu allows you to open many copies of the same controls. It seems to perform really well and has a huge amount of scope for additional controls, consoles and graphs

  • I can see the current and next waypoint in the regular telemetry and can use them but it would be nice to get all of the waypoints.

It will be better with the mega to be able to have two way communication so that I can request the waypoints when the gcs starts up. it makes it more cumbersome to test when the waypoints are only sent at start up.

In the meantime i will use the local waypoints config file produced by the config tool. think i'll also integrate the config tool into the gcs
    waypoints.it
This domain may be for sale!
  • Thanks will do that later today
  • AP lists all stored waypoints in the startup telemetry. You could parse for these. It guarantees your waypoint plot and AP are singing from the same hymn sheet that way.
  • Thanks, the latest build has the lat long working. not sure what the problem was the other night. I think google stops sending out maps if the resfresh rate is too fast. it gets a new map every 3 seconds now, previously was less than a second.

Yes lots of switches and dials but which, actually I would now like to chat with you about ehat each control should show, in which measurement and how to test accuracy.

I also want to open the mission config so that I can plot the mission way points on the map along with current position.

    ideas appreciated
  • HI tim,

Now we need stiches and dials...loooots of switches and dials..lol

will see if we can get lat long talking..

    regards,
    Mike,
  • Updated: The app requirs microsoft fraemwork 3.5, values still need to be verified so don;t repl yon them yet!

I have added a working google map locater and all controls can be expanded using mouse wheel or touch gestures. Instrument controls can be positioned but positions are not yet saved.

  • I had a lot of requests for the windows version. It has been helpful to me because it's quicker and easier to test than the micro version. It leaves a few questions concerning how the ardupilot GCS values should best be converted to screen control values.

Attached is a windows program that will work with ArduPilot standard GCS. I am using the shield, thermopiles and EM406

For test purposes the compass shows the breaing not the heading. My first question concerns
    ArduPilot standard GCS using EM406/Sirf?

Would someone mind picking up a copy of this windows ground station and tell me if you think the GPS Lon/Lat are correct.

You can see the raw values received from the ArduPilot at the bottom of the screen and a formatted value next to the map button.

If the Lon and Lat are correct then clicking the map button should show a google map at the correct location

    Thanks

    Tim
  • Thanks Morli.

Yes I'll get the micro version running and then look at windows version. The windows version will be easier due to more RAM and better support for Maths and Serial, the basic program structure will be almost the same..

Good work TimL, Impressed and interested. Will you have some thing to work on regular windows running on touch screen Laptops( or normal LT), if so I would like to try it on mine if you can share the code or executable.
