Hey... I have an Amiga 1200 with a Viper Accelerator inside here. The first personal computer of my life. I bought it in 1993. I just need to find a monitor 1084S to get back in time to my first experience.

My second one was the Amiga 4000 with the incredible Video Toaster 4000 and the fantastic PAR (Personal Animation Recorder). And... my old and best friend, Lightwave3D. Aaahhh... all started right there.

    Somebody remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seznQmDp2pU&feature=mfu_in_order...

  • @ Jack Crossfire: Agreed.

When i've first heard about the "new C64", i thought someone packed an FPGA soft core emulating the real thing into a remake of the old case. This seems like nothing more than a regular ole PC packed in an imitation case.

  • The C64 remake is lame.  The keyboard was the glue with the original.  It should have had the original connectors connected to GPIO's.  They could have had adapters for logic signals or original peripherals.

There's going to be a market for very accurately recreating the original experience.  The original paddles & Koala pad, with their jittery output.  The original joystick, with its 8 binary directions.  The original RF modulated video, with its 60Hz refresh rate & size that would change, depending on the ratio of white & black.  The humming sound of the CRT interfering with the audio.

Unfortunately, a truly stock C64 system would be super expensive to manufacture.

  • C64 is a bit of overkill I think. BTW does anyone know how to increase the tale load tape load speed on a ZX80?
