The Cheerson CX-95S is a very cheap but nice quadrocopter. Beside the price the seperated components are great especially to use it for other projects. Also the use of open source software makes it quite easy to adapt.
There are mostly three things the new project should have:
- Use of small brushed motors (1S or 2S lipo)
- Not more than 4 of these motors
- No use of servos or brushless motors
Then it might be quite easy to use this approach.
