UxV-CS development update

ovrv.pngThanks to a friendly influenza virus, I was down a couple of days, but now, work continues. Shown in the picture is the (yet incomplete) overview page which is the first active page after switching the system on. Obviously, there are still a few empty fields in which I was planning to put some data from the FrSky telemetry but I am interested in feedback! What do YOU think about the current "overview" layout? What data do you think are important to have at a glance?

Also in the picture is an explanation of the current development of the status bar. You have probably seen it already in the videos and were wondering what all those little indicators mean :).

  • True...Ok cool....hope all goes well with your work man..

  • That's maybe a bit much for now, because it would require quite some settings menu. Different people have different setups, so the values for green, yellow and red will vary. But I keep the idea in mind.

  • Yess it is good looking and the sugestions sounds good and also go with colour indicators turning yellow, red and so on as critical conditions comes.

    Cool

    So...

On gauge you simple add colored area, where you parameter in acceptable range. For example voltage, red for 6 V, yellow from 6 to 7 V, green - above 7 volts. You don't need to read real value, only look at the screen. When all pointers in green area - everything right, OK? :))))

It's only my experience, personally I use combined gauge: pointer and digits value in one area.

  • That would kinda defy the idea of an "overview"-screen, wouldn't it :).

I also don't really see the improvement in readability in an analog gauge for e.g. voltage or speed. Given the screen dimensions and the resolution, I would expect it to be harder to read. The only point yet where I find it more intuitive is the compass for navigation and the attitude indicator, which are graphical gauges on the PFD-screen. The VSI on the PFD-screen will go graphical too later.

Stefan, split instruments to diff. screens and link screens to Fn keys ( bootom of screen ). First screen - coordinates, alt, speed, voltage...And so on.

  • Unfortunately, there's not really enough space on the display for lots of gauges at the same time, plus the display only can display 4 instruments simultaneously.

Stefan, tradicional indicators ( pointer gage ) for most value like a speed, alt, voltage and so on read much better.

  • Looks very useful. I think the LAT and LON could be smaller since one would use it in case of a downed drone, not all the time.  I would like to see distance from Home and distance to destination, vertical speed, battery percentage or calculated time of battery power left.
