what output power? what RX location? 8km with 2 whips is nearly impossible, are you sure he didn't use a helical on the RX? Also, he usually tries to push range, which is not what we're after unless we do a benchmark flight. When flying low and in imperfect conditions, higher gain RX is where its at.
Oh right. Odd, some people over at RCG are saying they are getting much more than 2km. Video on there of IBCrazy getting 5200miles (8.something km) from dual cloverleafs.
Yes, we have. I love them. Unfortunately we couldn't find high gain circular polarized antennas for the receiver side. For us 14dbi is the minimum. The SKW and CLs only work out to 2km, which wouldn't be nearly enough for most of our flights.
I loved the gabriel videos, flying from the hotel room was brilliant. Trappy, from your website I see you use a plain rubber duck for the Video TX, have you ever experimented with SKW or cloverleafs etc?
John, it's something we've planned for quite some time already. To be honest, though, there would need to be a little more than just the satisfaction of pissing off morons around the world :)
absolutely love it :), Kinda wonder what them cows are thinking haha. Even cooler thou, maybe a couple FPV wingmen in formation..... that would be epic.
Kirill, I will say this much ... I could cause a stir in here with a simple click to the "Upload" button for a few weeks in a row :) we've got a couple of pretty cool videos lined up. there's just a few legal things to clear (music copyright, not flying stuff) and we're also scheduling these videos. so first we've got a few "air 2 air" themed videos coming up: 10.5m glider, 3.4m tow plane, 3m jet. after that maybe another "oh my god he flew in a city and dived down buildings"-video :)

Shucks, I just rewatched the video, he says 5700 feet which is 1.7km. I got confused somewhere (I blame imperial). Sorry.
Just incase you wanted to check it out: http://vimeo.com/20083784
Trappy, that's good! I'm looking forward to see your next masterpiece!
