I'm building a prototype rover using arduini, raspberry pis, L298N, etc communicating over I2C. Pi is gonna run direwolf tnc so I can drive the bot via terminal before I get fancy and go AX25. Would kinda like to treat it more like a NASA rover than RC car (will be upgrading from $10 crawler kit to using 2 hoverboard motors on welded frame) so I'm wondering what to do about video. Plenty of room on 70cm, and I have spare 70cm ht's to play with. Cross-band with 2m up and 70cm down with ATV and and return data? KISS for now and just j use 2m for data and 70cm for video?

You'll probably need to watch your layout and have a good LPF on the 2m up. The 3rd harmonic can and will desense the 70cm if using 70cm for any RX. Are you planning
2m as the flight control channel? I run 900MHz and 2400 for everything here...LoRa. Best luck with the project (I've 'been there' with 2m and 70cm...lol)
@cory Congrats on the new ham lisc and you are doing the right thing getting the general ticket asap if you really want to enjoy ham radio the HF bands is where its at. If you want some help with anything ham drop me a note. And you are in the right spot for APM for sure.
OK OM...your 5x9 here !

Propose your plan in the ardurover group. See what TCIII and the other rover users think.
It can be done easily enough with mavproxy and RC override, by quickly pasting in a flip flop of pwm values. But it is not easily done with a mouse and a drop down box. Not well enough to get the timing right.
Hello old men...
just joined this group (i saw it on the main page...being a ham i had to join)
my callsign is ON4NDO and I have a hexacopter with an APM 2.5

Bret, I've been considering doing something like that for Field Day, but haven't gotten as far as completing the drone yet.
