Newbie RC issue Spektrum DX7s

Hello,

I'm newbie, first build, and I'm having trouble getting my controller to connect.

I'll run through what I've done as best as I can describe it.

I believe I completed the binding properly. I had the satellite receiver connected to the AR8000 with the bind plug in the BND/DAT port and one of my esc cables in the THRO port next to it for power. Once I connected power I had a fast blinking orange light in both units. I turned on the transmitter while holding down the bind button. I saw binding and transmitting flash across the screen and both orange lights went out. I reconnected the esc cable to the power distribution board, removed the satellite receiver and plugged it into the SPKT/DSM port on the pixhawk.

The problem is I'm not getting an orange light on the satellite receiver and no response when I try to do RC calibration in mission planner.

I've tried powering the pixhawk with the usb plug and the battery, separately and together with no change. The pixhawk flashes double yellow and the status in mission planner reports RC calibration failed.

I've read through everything I can find online and it seems like I should see an orange light in the receiver once power is connected. So far everything else appears to be working but I can't progress until I get a connection here.

I'ts late so I'll check back tomorrow and maybe give 3dr a call.

Thank you,

Andreas

  • I finally figured it out.

I saw a youtube video that showed pairing and it mentioned that you need about a meter distance. I'm pretty sure I was about a meter away before but I backed up about 10 feet to try again and same behavior. I decided one last try, and I walked down the hall into another room about 30 feet away and it finally worked.
