New flyer needs advice

I am new to the quadcopter world.Thought if I build one, I would learn more. I was right. Boy there is a lot to learn. Anyway, I built a DJI f450,I upgraded to extended arm (another 5cm per arm). I have a Spectrum DX7s tx, a Ar8000 receiver, and recently purchased a telemetry module TM1000 and added the telemetry GPS sensor as well. FPV is next. My problem is that I cannot get the altitude to read correctly. When I start off, I am getting a reading go 465ft. witch I believe is the reading above sea level. How do I reset or calibrate my sensor to read 0 when on the ground and the give me true reading when I am in the sky?

I hope this is a proper place for my request.

  • Hi John,

I am guessing you have the DJI Naza controller which is available with the DJI F450.

If this is true, this is perhaps not the best place to ask about it as this is a group pretty much committed to the APM, PX4 or Pixhawk flight controller system.

I would suggest the DJI site support section here: http://www.dji.com/support which has manuals for both their controller and their ARF Flamewheel kit.

I have both an F450 Flamewheel and an F330 myself with an APM2 and PX4 flight controller respectively, and using those with the 3DR telemetry radio does not present the problem you describe here as all reporting is done AGL from the takeoff location.

You might benefit at some point from switching to a Pixhawk or APM in which case the DIYDrones wiki Flamewheel build could help here: http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/dji-f330-flamewheel/

I wrote that page and have more expanded information on my site as well here:

    Best Regards,
