Hey there!

So I am a newbie in this world of RC vehicles, but I need to connect my Pixhawk auto pilot system to my computer. Whenever I connect this thing into my computer, power from my computer is fed into the Pixhawk, but my computer doesn't fully recognize the Pixhawk system. The Pixhawk shows up on my computer, but the specifics are not picked up on my computer (a bunch of the parameters on the properties/preferences window are 'unknown').

In addition, the APM software will not see that anything at all is plugged into the system, so I am not sure of what to do. On 3DR's website, I just followed the quickstart guide for the Pixhawk system, but it's not working properly.

I also tried a suggestion online to 'reinsall' the drivers, but I don't think that it worked so well.

Does anyone who has more experience with this know what to do to connect my Pixhawk to my laptop? Any help is appreciated!

Have you loaded the flight code? Nothing will happen until you do.

You are following the instructions, right?

    • I am not sure what that is. I can't find it in the directions that I was following:

I don't read anything about a flight code in there. But I reinstalled mission planner and the drivers for the Pixhawk and it looks like my computer is, at least, reading the Pixhawk and the Mission Planner software can see it now. But as we speak I just finished all the steps with the firmware and it looks like we are up and running! Thanks for your input, it looks like I am OK at the moment.

What did you mean by 'flight code', btw? I would like to know for the future :-)

flight code = firmware. ArduCopter, ArduPlane, ArduRover -- just telling the Pixhawk what kind of vehicle you're going to be using it on, and loading the correct software.

        • OK, ya I did that after my computer was able to read that the Pixhawk was connected to the computer. After that, I was able to load the firmware fairly easily. Thanks for the clarification
