First up, I want to state we are not trying to control a boat (AWV) via satellite. All the waypoints will be plugged into the APM, the boat dropped in the water and it will be off on its merry way,
My question for this post specifically relates to getting certain telemetry data from the APM 2.6 to the satellite transceiver twice a day for the length of the voyage
Three questions:
- Has anyone done this yet?
- If anyone has done this yet, what sat transceiver have you used and what configuration did you use from the APM telemetry port to sat unit?
- How large (in bits/bytes) is the telemetry data?
- We will only be sending a snapshot of the data, so every 6 hours the APM would send the Sat transceiver: battery life, gyro,accelerometer, barometer data - the transceiver would then upload the data to the satellite.
We are looking for a summer launch in 2014 when the winds and currents will be favorable from cali to the Pacific.
