SmartPort telemetry on Pixhawk

So, I am currently running a D8R with my PIXHAWK and use the D-port telemetry output and an inverter, and it works.

Now I want to upgrade to an X-Series receiver(need the additional channels) and I want to keep my telemetry.

So, I looked in the drop-down menu for the telemetry output in mission planner and there was an entry for the s-port, so yay.

But after a bit of reading I was under the impression I need a RS232 converter and a diode to get the appropriate electrical levels for the SmartPort.

But I does not work.

Reading a but further I come across the github entry for this issue.

The question is: Is there a SmartPort telemetry output available for the pixhawk in the AP 3.2.1 or do I need a version of the new 3.3 version(even if it is beta)?

Should I stop wasting my time and build the teensy mavlink to SmartPort converter?

Anything I missed?

  • 3.2.1 does not support x series. It seams only arducopter has yet to launch an update with that implemented. 3.3 dev works and the good news is you just need a diode on the tx output of your inverter with the rx line on the other side of the diode. I tested it. Just wait a litle more for 3.3. Release candidate should not be too long away.
