@Thomas J Coyle III

you should read the datasheet before you make a recommendation.

Presently I find that I cannot recommend the BBBMINI as a navigational controller for ROVs due to some programming issues and the fact that the BBBMINI cannot recognize the MS5837 pressure sensor while the Pixhawk1/2 does recognize the MS5837 pressure sensor and is easier to program.

Hi Thomas,

I do not have MS5837 here. If someone provide me with a sensor I can check that.

Mirko

Hi Mirko,

Are you going to be able to determine why the MS5837 pressure sensor is not being detected on the BBBMINI external I2C bus?

@Patrick,

I believe that most I2C sensors are communicated with at specific addresses on the I2C bus. The MS5837 is located at 0x76.

@Patrick/Mirko,

I have added 4.7k pull up resistors to the MINI SDA and SCL lines and attached them to 3.3 vdc.

i2cdetect -r 2 returned addresses: 0x54 -0x57, but nothing at 0x76.

What component on the external I2C bus is at addresses 0x54 -0x57 on the MINI?

OK

Just make sure that the I2C lines are loaded (1-3 kohm pull-ups). Mirko did some exhaustive test on these a couple of month ago on gitter.

@Partick,

We already have a specially encased MS5837 that is used for ROV pressure sensing. It could be that there is a problem trying to use the BBB external I2C bus. That is what we are trying to determine.
