Hi guyz, just wanted to share my latest work with you and conclude the Defiance fpv airframe development series.

Frankly it's been a bumpy road till here but I wouldn't change a bit.

In 2012 I got interested with fpv and quadcopter designs so I started reading, learning and drawing few ideas, going on and off the project as I could find the time for it. By the end of 2014 first complete solution was introduced under the name of AtasDefiance 265 which was later followed by imitations known as Robocat, Tarot TL280 and few others which basically enabled many to try out this sort of design philosophy which is kinda cool really.

I wouldn't take this things much seriously tho, it's just one of many great designs out there anyway. After all, it's meant to be fun :)

Anyhow, some time later I've come to the point I'm completely satisfied with the results and am very excited to present you the Defiance PRO airframe built for FPV which should be soon made available to fellow flyers.

Hope you like it, will share more info soon :)

Special thanks to the ArmattanProductions for stellar production services that enabled me to finish my project at such high quality.

Best,

Daxo

This is not about a promotion of some manufacturer, or shop, or me, this is about you!!

A fellow hobbyist/maker and an opportunity to breathe life into your creation.

There's not going to be any fancy graphic banners or profit promises, rather, what you see/read if won enough votes is what you get and all you got to do to enter the contest is to post any of your own wildest dream CAD project drawings/renders. No more nor less!

Preferably frame image/render in perspective, not the actual design top view of the design as intent is only to present your idea to the contest followers so they can decide which frame they want to vote for based on your design presentation. No need for fancy renders or drawings, present your work in the best light you can.

The prize is a 125$ prototyping fund for your creation if you won the most votes.

To ensure that the prize prototyping funds are going for that exact purpose, I've decided that the amount will be credited to your account on the reliable, thrust worthy and high quality production service I have had great prototyping experience with, The Armattan Productions.

With this I hope I'll get to help a fellow hobbyist/maker to get an actual prototype of his creation in his hands and have some fun ;)

I've been there and was lucky enough to get supported by some amazing folks thanks to which my creation came to life. I cannot Thank them enough for it and having an opportunity to do something similar for a fellow hobbyist/maker, it just doesn't get any better than that!

This will be posted on almost all forums I'm a member of in the Pilot/Scratch build sections with hope it will attract the most hobbyists. The central design contest thread in which all designs will be finally shown and presented for voting when it's time: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2628451#post34306551

If you got a friend who's working on a design, tell him about this opportunity!

The contest will go on for 2 months starting of today after which the vote pool will be closed and the winner will be announced!

Enough talk ;)

So, you got a design you are working on?

Something you would like to share and get some feedback on?

No need to look any further, post your design and let the contest begin!

Get the most votes and Win a 125$ worth prototyping fund.

Good luck! :D

Guyz i'm so happy to let you know that Atas Defiance - an fpv racer airframe is now available at http://www.dronematters.com/multirotors/300mm/quadcopters/atas-defiance-265-frame-1206.html

I'm extremly proud to say that DroneMatters.com have an exlusive distribution rights for the airframe, this distributer has raised the bar in quality and customer support so many times its just ridiculously awesome!

AtasSphere might eventualy consider openings for other retailers.

Beta kits are being shipped so we are very excited to hear what fpv enthusiast have to say about it, stay tunned! :)

We are geniuely interested in delivering proven airframe to the market, this is the reason why we decided to call the first Batch a Beta one, airframe as is is the final solution!

However this does not mean in any way you cannot order the kit if you want it now, you can preorder yours today! :D

Few more Photos :)

Defiance Airframe development

6SktaN.jpgLatest update on things: DefianceDevelopementThread

MkxjBY.jpg

Hi guyz, its been a while since i reported back about my enthusiastic project, 'In search of design functionallity'.

Time has come to show you what i've been working on for long time, i'm very excited, the jurny was long and dreadful but every second of it was worth it.

Main design goal;

- compact and functional design

- protection of all electronics by the airframe body while keeping them accessible(armor tanked)

- usage ergonomy, easy to maintain (wiring and electronics)

- optimal electronic placement, to achive healty working enviroment for all components by keeping them away from eachother to prevent mutual EMI. (flight control, videio transciever, radio reciever, power distribution, esc, both vtx and rx anntennas, camera)

- stable and lock in flight characteristics (achived with central COG on all axles by symetric motor placement and centered component placement on vertical axis)

- an airframe that provides easily achivable clean build

-great battery fitting capacity

- fully optimized for both 5 and 6 inch propellers, 3 and 4s powersystems

- great orientation propertys, serve as both, an LOS skill training model and full blown fpv beast, also easy to spot for the spotter and in fpv racing

- frame profile designed to take a beating, able to translate direct frontal crash at 25degree into rotational force to dissipate impact energy and incrise model longevity

- sensible engineering, usage of right materials in all the right places, g10 where RF transperancy is desired and true 3k carbon fiber only where its needed.

- light weight

- high quality

- fair pricing, affordable

- available

Here is the latest screenshoot from actual model assembly file

I'm looking foward to your thoughts and suggestion

You can also follow up my thread about it on fpvlab, but i'm more than happy to answer all Q&A here too.

Defiance thread

Update:

New feature - adaptable motor protection

A few people suggested some form of motor protection so i designed an adaptable motor protection giving the pilot a choice of motor protection 'level' he feels most comfortable with.

Arms have 'teeths' providing great distancing of motor bell from the edge of an arm, however it is possible to install protective rings wich give additional protection along motor vertical axis. The same mount holes can be used to install landing gear as well.

While obvious that teeths are most effective during crashes on solid ground, the protective rings make it more secure for most ground types.

Enough talk, few screenshoots :)

As always, looking foward to feedback:)

This is the final design assembly file screenshoot, features few construction updates that provides great ease of us, maintainance and structural reinforcement for 6incher powersystems.

More about those updates at: Defiance Thread

zeZDxw.jpgNew update on things, I've posted first Defiance prototype build photos, heres a link BuildPhotos.

In search of design functionality!

3689575251?profile=original

I wanted to share something i was working on for some time and get some feedback on the design.

I was looking how to make a frame for fpv with focus to ease of use and functionality, after quite some thinkering i've got to this point shown in renders, this is just a working model renders, incomplete but the core idea is there.

Considering it is a mini frame design, it shows small fc, but the synergy yielded by bottom(power system train) and top(control and vision feed bridge) enables mounting of all sort of fully featured flight controllers as APM in between segments while remaining protected and easy to access.

Canopy is implement for incrised aerodynamics, keeping air moisture away from electronics and wiring in FF, make it easier to train LOS flying, help a spotter in fpv assemble maintain visual and ofc while flying with your mates maintain visual on eachother much easier.

For its size, the frame construction has amazing fitting capacity, it can take apm with gps, radio reciever and video transciever, camera, osd, bec, 4x 20A afro slims(overpowerd but wise for hot summers and weight allows it), telemetry and stunning battery compartment 12cmx4cm x 2,7cm. Central frame construction bounding box is only 20cm long, 5cm wide and 8cm height!  Nearly everything is "armor tanked" by construction, figures as inspiration for me was the armadillo animal hehe.

However antennas placement is in revision, altho giving almoste perfect LOS to GCS in model 360degree placing screeming video transciever antenna next to radio reciever is a big fail, for a mini sure no problem but it can be done better.

So let me know what you guyz think about the design, thoughts, suggestions?

 Enjoy;)
