About Me:
Executive director of Friends of Penobscot Bay, a Waterkeeper affiliate. We are an all-volunteer organization of people who commercially and recreationally fish Penobscot Bay in Maine and want to keep our seafood species growing by protecting their water & habitat quality and that of their prey species, as well as people who support keeping the bay's tourist-attracting natural scenic assets as intact as possible. Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
FOPB needs to be able to document conditions of coastal waste dumps, outfalls, waste plumes, efficacy of silt fences at development sites, eelgrass presence/absence in shallows and other environmental conditions above and below the tideline of Penobscot Bay. Private aircraft are proving far less available than anticipated, and are not able to loiter over a site for very long. We would like to meet UAV owner operators interested in helping us gather the visual information we need. Most sites of interest have adjacent public land to operate from. As an all-volunteer organization we are unable to offer direct compensation. However we can give mission participants a federal tax deduction for volunteered time and expenses.
