I just completed my 1945 Kiekhaefer 0-45-1 engine (747 cc, 20-22 hp, 35 lbs)
restoration to ground running status only. It was used in the Radioplane TDD-3/OQ-14 aerial gunnery target (137.5 inch span, 134 lbs, 140 mph). I'm using a 1940's Carter "483" W-1 carburetor for now and it still needs some work. The engine was never
designed to be throttled, but does reasonably well from 35% to 100% throttle. Manual 30 degreespark advance. I used an aftermarket motorcycle 12v dual coil and 12v
condenser. Three ply white birch 32 x 36 prop carved to original profile but left 0.1inch thicker for durability and safety.
