20Hz GPS

Folks,

I have an APM1 2560 with the "normal" gps on it. I also have one of these lying in a spares bin. Would there be any benefit in using this? The stock firmware does not have the I2C enabled but that is doable.

Biggest thing I like about it - it works indoors.

Only issue is a bulky antenna with 5m of cable on it. if I can sort that out the I'll look to using it.

Would the APM benefit from a 20Hz update or is it pointless?

  • I'm pretty pleased with the accuracy/performance so far.

  • Just bought one of these... the main reason was a hope that higher update rates would result in improved position and heading estimation for my autonomous ground vehicle. Curious to hear what others have to say.
