Crispin commented on Chris Anderson's blog post HK releases Quanum FollowMe drone
"@Gary,

All very good points. I guess though my "disappointment" is that they've released it (assuming it is the APM / 2560) with an already overstretched CPU. Or they have code and features that resemble what our life was like with APM2.5.
It is…"

"I cannot see what the CPU is. If it really is then is it not like buying a 486? I just found out all my pixhawks are essentially bricks soon. If this is APM then why would you?"

"VR Brain has been around for a while. I would try that.

My issue with the RPi offerings is the size. Real-estate on most airborne platforms is at a premium.  "

"BYOD or UMTech?

It's a pity if it's true. I would rather not buy copies from HK or fleabay and I don't really want to be a continuous guinea pig for the new starters coming.

What other options are there?"

Crispin replied to Evan Palmer's discussion Pixhawk with Servos in PIXHAWK
"In advanced params in mission planner there is the option to for the servo - set it to pass-through. Once the safety switch is pressed then you should have throughput to the servo.

It works without hitch for me on a pixhawk with spektrum dx9. I…"

Hi folks,I've just noticed that the logs / tuning graph shows RC 6/7/8 having output even though there is no actual output. Once I press the safety switch then the outputs really do spring to life.I have channel 6/7/8/9 set to rcPassThru (1) and…

Crispin replied to Pmarche's discussion Pixhawk and some ESCs with Low KV motors. Pixhawk is not the problem. Problem is related to ESCs, Firmware and fine tuning. in PIXHAWK
"Most odd Marc. The Hobby King Blue 40A ones I had certainly did not like the low KV motors. I had read that SimonK also has problems but I read many people using them just fine.
I flashed mine with bs40a.hex from https://github.com/c---/simonk_tgy3d…"

"it's not all bad...

I had 6 HK 40A blue series with a pixhawk and it was impossible to fly with the RC Timer 360KV. Calm day, light on the throttle and it would be ok. Slight gust of wind, it would lose sync and crash.

Simple fix - flash them with…"

Hi folks,I had a quad Pixhawk, 3.2, which has had two "wobbles" in the air. Both occasions it looked like one motor shut down. On both occasions it turned back on and had enough height to recover (while falling I throttle at 100%)Sadly the third…

Crispin commented on Marco Robustini's blog post Introducing the Lily Camera
"Yup, I conceded that the hand thing was a bit silly :)

This whole arena of tech is incredibly fast moving and inherently unstable. 3DR selling the Iris (it has had issues) DJI selling the Phantom, Naza etc etc. My point being the marketing team…"

"I disagree.
Let's assume the project is backed and he gets all the money. He sells it and it's a flop because he chopped someone's hand up (I'll concede - the landing on hand thing is perhaps a step too far and suggestive) then he'll have his own…"

Yes, it's got problems, issues to overcome but like everything, each progressive version will be better (or he'll stop selling them and…"
