I bought the high clearance legs from quadframe.com along with their new metal-bearing 2-axis gimbal for gopro. Attached the legs via cable ties and a few extra drilled holes and the gimbal is designed to fit onto the underside of the battery shelf on the legs. Without high leg clearance you probably wouldnt be able to sling a decent gimbal underneath on the standard 3dr quad frame legs - they are pretty short.

You can do this mod, like one my friend have done. It is necessary to build (with fiberglass G10) four legs about 20 cm lenght.
After you can use this one http://quadframe.com/collections/cm/camera-mounts

Don't have 3DR myself, but maybe one of these could be adapted to fit?
