3DR Hexa with Futaba T8J?

Hi All,

Can someone please steer me in the right direction.

I've just received my new 3DR Hexa, ready to fly version, and I am about to connect my receiver but I need some help.

I have a Futaba T8J transmitter and a Futaba R2008SB S-FHSS receiver. This combo is not on the list of supported transmitters but hopefully it will work as I have seen others using it with APM 2.5

The 3DR Hexa came with a bunch of cables that I need to plug into my receiver channels, but I am not sure what goes where. I used to have a DJI Phantom, and that had just one sBus cable between the receivier and flight control board.

I am new to all this so I would appreciate it if you come give me some help about what I should connect where. Can I still use a single cable or do I have to utilise all them 8 cables?

Also I've found plenty of info about having to update the PPM firmware with this Futaba radio, do I still need to do that with the current model?

Thanks very much,

Brad

  • The basics:

Between the APM2.5 and your Futaba receiver you should have one ground wire, one +5v power wire (to power the receiver from the APM), and one signal wire for each channel you intend ti use. I believe your transmitter/receiver combo will be fine with APM2.5, and from what I know you should probably not need to fool around with the ppm firmware problem.

    Hey - try it!
