3DR hexacopter battery requirements.

I'm assembling my first copter, so I naturally have a great many dumb questions. When I went to the store to buy a battery I hadn't been able to find battery specs here online. I thought the guy at the store would know what I needed. Nope. Now I find the suggested battery is a 5000mah 3 cell lipo with 30C. I got real close to that, but it's 20C rather than 30.Will this work? Or should I return it?

  • I run 2 3000mah 20c batteries on my hex and it works like a champ.

The c rating represents capacity of a given battery. For example, if you have a 2500mah battery rated at C10 that would mean 2500milliamp ( 2.5 Amp ) times 10 or 2.5Amp x 10 = 25 Amp max burst of power available as a discharge rate.

    Hope that helps!

  • Well, drove 75 miles and got a 35C. Needed some other stuff anyway.
