3DR Quad: Upgrade motors from stock for lift capacity?

Hello everyone!

Thanks to you guys, I'm in the process of getting my first quad off the ground and in the air. You are a great community with a lot of knowledge and resources.

My quad: bone stock 3DR quad kit (3DR Quad frame, stock 850 kv motors and escs, 2.5+ APM in the tube)

Add ons: a telemetry kit, gps

Radio: Turnigy 9x with 9x 8 channel receiver

Battery: undecided (any suggestions here as well?)

I'm going to be using this quad as a lift platform for an item that is 740g.

I was wondering if the 850kv motors can handle the additional weight or if I should upgrade the motors?

If you have any insights on whether the motors will work, or if I need to upgrade please let me know.

I like the 3S 5000mAh battery. Good balance of power and weight.

That's a lot of weight to lift. How much flight time are you trying to get? You may need to upgrade to a Hex or Oct to lift that much.

Good luck and Happy New Year.
