3DR Y6

Hi Folks,

not sure if this is the right forum but...

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 3DR Y6 full kit inc compass/gps, some spares and all that. Just looking in this forum and the customer comments on their facbook page the feedback seems universally awful, indicating huge delays and poor/disengenuous communications.

Am I crazy to be considering 3DR at this point and should I look on HK or similar?

thanks,

Graham

  • I finally got my refund today, which is why I'd held off posting a reply. They initially gave me store credit instead of a refund and when I asked for an actual refund they had to escalate it or something. A bit worrying since I thought I was getting stuck with credit in a store which can't supply their own stock. I also pointed out to customer service that the site still shows 'in stock' and shipping in 1-3 days and they said they'd inform their web dev guys.

    I ordered the parts from unmannedtech and buildyourowndrone.co.uk on Thursday evening. Both suppliers shipped the parts on Friday - can't complain with that! - I should have everything tomorrow and I can start building.

  • I too had issues with my Y6 Kit getting out on time. 1-3 Days shipping time on their website turned into 5 days, which turned into a week, which turned into two and a half weeks.  They kept saying it would only take two days, early next week, etc to ship while missing every self-assigned deadline.  I was not happy with that.  Thankfully all parts arrived in working order.

    Hoping I don't have to do any RMAs...

  • So I eventually decided to get the APM, GPS, PDB etc from 3DR - ordered on Saturday with everything listed as in stock and shipping in 1-3 days. Just checked now and the order is 'on-hold' whatever that means. I've reached out to them for an update and hopefully they'll respond. I'll give them a couple of days to ship and I'll cancel and order something similar elsewhere.

    @Mike P - unfortunately I didn't see your post before I ordered. The main reason I went with them was a seeming consensus that the kit was good quality when it arrived. I'm based in Ireland and if I have to get in to multiple shippings back and forth it could be next year by the time I get airborne.

  • I'm a new customer - I ordered my Y6 kit in july. And let me tell you, my Y6 has not seen a single second of air yet. It's built, except the GPS went bad. I RMA'd that over 2 weeks ago. I was told it would ship that friday. Then last week I was told it would ship last week... I called today and was told it would ship today. Also, my APM went bad last week. I've been telling customer service how upsetting it is that I keep having to RMA products and the replacement products never arrive. I even paid for a new APM to have them cross-ship it sooner- even though I did that, my return shipment to them was received prior to them even shipping the replacement APM (which i was told would go out today).

    I'm honestly pretty close to just doing a charge back on my card and counting it as a loss. I originally bought from 3DR because i want to support a local company, but I'm not sure I want to support a company that has so little regard to their customers. Good luck with whatever you choose. I hope that none of the components in anything 3DR you purchase need to be RMA'd, because it will likely set you back at least 3 to 4 weeks.

    @Graham,

    Have you done any research on how good/bad similar HK products are in relation to the 3DR product you want to purchase?
