I remember reading an article called "Video plane" in RC Modeller mag almost 20 years ago.
I purchased a video tape about them from Supercircuits of a gentleman from NewZealand who had built several different models which he flew by watching a small TV in his van.
(and that was also 20 years ago)
On "YouTube", there are dozens and dozens of examples of videoplanes.
Another early example was the Project Cyclops RPV flown by sitting inside a converted video game console, adapted to use actual R/C transmitter parts.
As far as goggles go, I have a real problem with video-headgear... (probably related to refresh rate)... I get air-sick really easy in them, while I do not in a real aircraft!
