low cost radio systems

I dug out an old VEX radio system I got a couple of years ago from RadioShack.This is a 6 channel FM transmitter with a small receiver.The receiver provides a direct PWM output.But it gets even better.     I was going to say the same thing 72mhz is air and 75 is ground

    This is a complete Tx and Rx system.

    The Tx has a tether port that allows you to turn off the RF and connect directly to whatever you use as a decoder.

    I was only considering this as a lab or low cost test system and totally agree with Chris that a flying thing may need more upmarket equipment.

    I did try the TX on one of my aircraft and it seemed to work with my receiver.
    I used the Vex rx crystal.

    But for the price it looks really good.

    That's fine for ground-based systems (for which it's designed) or lab testing, but I would not trust it for anything in the air. Our UAVs are expensive, and there's no point in scrimping on something totally critical like the RC system.

    does it include the receiver too? or is it just a transmitter only?
