Adding extra functions to MinimOSD

I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.

At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.

after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D

They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.

They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!

Thank you Bough! :)

By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.

Here it is in action:

Added:

- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)

- Airspeed

- Home alt

- Battery Percent

- Battery used mah

- Current Draw

- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)

- OSD Menu

- Variometer

- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes.

- OSD on/off

- Switchable secound screen

- WP distance

- WP heading

- Crosstrack error

- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI

- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel

- OSD Brightness

- HAM Call Sign

- After flight summary

- Trip distance

- Temperature

- Smoothened horizon

- Real heading

- RSSI

- Vertical speed

This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.

Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning,  can be set in new Config Tool.

We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.

Here is how it looks: (This video is a bit outdated, sorry. I will make a new one soon.)

The MinimOSD-Extra project is here: Link

This project is the developing version of the official Arducam OSD located here: Link

The latest stable version is: 2.2

The latest version can be downloaded from here: MinimOSD-Extra R800

Username: MinimOSD_Extra

Password: Top_Secret

CT is included. (The FW for Plane, Copter, Character upload and the character file is in the "FW & Char" directory inside CT directory)

We are sharing it to see videos you make using it! :)

Enjoy

  • Hi!

    I made a mistake!

It seams that Arduplane is changed. Because of this wind is 180° off!

    I will fix this soon.

    Will try now

    Sorry,

    Gábor

  • Hello folks, I will probably ask something very simple but I do not know the way to turn the warning off.

I would like to test the switching but i do not how to turn the warnings off.

    I read this:

If you want to test switching at home, than you can turn warnings off, so you can try.)

    I really appreciate your answer.

  • In the latest version, i have deleted GPS lock panel

The GPS sats panel has its function now. When no fix satelite icon is facing to the right. When there is GPS fix than it will turn to you (The original icon). :)

It is only in source now.

  • Just released MinimOSD-Exrea 2.2 for Planes :)

Copter version is coming soon. ;)

Thank you all for your videos, tests, ideas, code parts, etc. Great team here!

    Link to download

    Thx,

    Gábor

  • I tried to do a distance run to get a sense for what my operation range was...and had a bit of a brown pants moment.

This was the pre release version loaded... Temp's fixed now...voltages and %'s were a little screwy - but you'll see that in that video ...  I think I may have had 5000 mah plugged in instead of 3300 for what this battery actually was...but you'll see that the percentage actually turned over from positive to negative and back to positive.

Return to launch saved the day :)

  • Hi,

There is a new copter pre-release in the downloads area:

MinimOSD Extra 2.1.5 Copter Pre Release Version r491

    The changes made were:

1 - Copter specific efficiency panel:
Shows estimated remaining flight time. It is based on battery % consumed and elapsed time.
    2 - Battery panel:
3 seconds show remaining battery % based on APM data
3 seconds show calculated consumed mAh
3 - Implemented video auto detection changes made by Gábor and Sandro.
4 - Home reset when armed. As Arducopter does.
    5 - Show Armed/Disarmed in warnings panel.

Here in Portugal is raining, so if anyone could give this a try and post some videos it would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Miguel

  • We are ready to release a new Stable version of Plane FW!

The only thing left, is final testing.

I tried to fly today, but no luck. Snow storm here...

If someone could do it for us.

And upload a video about the test. :)

  • I apologize if this topic has been covered in a prior post but I haven't found one.  I have a minimosd installed on my 3DR hexacopter.  I'm running a dual battery setup......one for the APM and one for the video camera, OSD, transmitter, etc. I know that the OSD will display the main APM battery status.  I'd like to be able to view the status of the battery supplying my video gear as well.  Is this even possible with the minimosd?

    Thanks

    Wayne

  • Well,

For copter Fw Miguel deserves a huge TY! :)

I am glad that he came. :)

I am not good at copters. But he knows what you copter pilots need, and also a great programmer.

He is exactly the person the project needed.

    Thank you Miguel!

    Gábor

  • I have been having nothing but fun with my 2.5 quad lately, and the OSD is working excellent...

Thanks to Gabor, Miguel, and the -Extra dev team! If you guys managed to pull off audio telemetry, we'll all owe you big time! :)
