adding fields to OSD

Is there a way to add additional fields to the OSD? As an example, "sonarrange" is a field exported by the pixhawk but it is not slectable on the osd screen to be placed on a panel. Can you add any telemetry item to the OSD panel or only the ones available to "click" on the left?

    Well that last statement scares me. Does that mean there are no mavlink compliant osd products that take pixhawk telemetry and overlay them on a video feed to the ground? What is solo using?

    Without changing the code, you can't add things that aren't in the list. 

    Does anyone know if MinimOSD is still alive, or have all the developers moved on to other things?

    obviously I put this in the wrong forum based on the lack of responses. Can someone let me know where I need to put this to get an answer?
