"Same here.. Never registered my toys.  I've been flying RC since the 80's and don't see how this is any different.  Other than it's much safer!  Those old RC planes in the 80s and 90's were always on the edge of control.  My drone flys itself!I…"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Is the 900x capable of communicating with 900+'s and 3dr modems?"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Pin 15 is what is assigned to PPM in/out.  So, you can either connect a cable from your transmitter accessory port to the RFD, or you can connect a receiver to the RFD.  If you connect a receiver to the RFD, you basically use the transmitter as…"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Kent, I'd be very interested in SBUS, because there are some limitations w/ PPM and Arducopter (only supports 12 channels PPM), and the little PPM/SBUS decoders usually have more functions with SBUS (like the ability to output 9-16 instead of just…"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"I have not flown with it yet. Latency is noticeable when moving a servo... similar to video lag.  I'm working today, so can't give you better info at the moment.  (I didn't measure it at the time I was working on it.. I was just happy I got it all…"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Thanks.  I tried various settings last night and could never get them to talk, so I guess I'll give up for now too.  900x to 900x is working great.  Got the RC link figured out too :)If one of the RFD people sees this, could you let us know if these…"

Scott W replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Are the 900x's compatible with older modems?  I can't get mine to talk to my 3dr modem.  I noticed a few of the settings were different and changed them to match the 3dr modem, but it won't connect. "

"Any updates on the rfd900X?  I've been waiting on ordering some modems since I saw they would be released "soon" last spring."

Could someone tell me which of these is most likely to be a 915mhz antenna? Both came from the same vendor w/ 915mhz radios.

Scott W commented on luke cooke's blog post Is DIY Dead?
"DIY will never die!  It's all about the people who prefer to DIThemselves.  Plus, you can push the bleeding edge while the manufactures are still working on it.  And, I personally can't imagine buying a drone due to the amount I crash :).  If I…"

Scott W replied to Dario Salas's discussion I need 8 pixracers ASAP, overnight shipping is preferred.
"Yep, send an email..  I needed fast shipping, and he got back to me very quickly and took care of it.
As of a few days ago he was out of power modules in the US, and out of the GPS cables for 3dr GPS's.  Everything else was able to ship immediately."

Scott W replied to Scott W's discussion Mission - ROI - copter direction vs gimbal direction
"Bump.... Anyone know?I did a few flights over the weekend and it was mostly working how I want.. The nose pointing to the ROI.  Between some commands, like RTL it points the nose to the waypoint and the gimbal to the ROI.  I'm still curious how I…"

Hi, I'm trying to plan a flight and am having trouble finding one bit of information.  I remember reading in the past, there is a setting about telling the copter if it should point its nose towards the ROI, or simply rotate the gimbal towards the…

Scott W commented on leonardthall's blog post FPV Racing using Arducopter
"HI, has anyone started doing fast auto missions w/ their racers?  I've been trying to tune mine up for fast auto, and am having trouble reaching high speeds..  To start, I'm trying to increase the "speed up", and it won't go any faster than about 6…"

Scott W replied to Anton Vanhoucke's discussion 433 Mhz dipole vs. GPS: total decimation
"I agree with your thought about not enough amperage... (I've only got about 2 years modern flight controller experience, but about 20 years electrical engineering experience).  I also want to mention... I've been building some small copters lately,…"
