Aerial Mapping with ArduPlane

Hi! I am an absolute newbie in UAVs and photogrammetry. I am looking for an alternative to this: http://uas.trimble.com/X100 which is much too expensive imho (40.000 €). As far as I understand, the APM:Plane is capable of doing the same thing except there is no camera module for making the pictures? There is a tutorial on how to use a canon CHKD-camera to the plane, but is there a smaller additional camera modul which fits into the plane?

Thanks

Tobi

  • Just get a Canon that can be hacked with the CHDK. The S100 and its relatives are good options. You will have to choose a plane that can take the camera, but you'll have to customise the mounting bay yourself. There are numerous build blogs and videos on here and in RC Groups that show how others have done it.

When you say 'do the same thing' remember you are comparing apples and oranges.
