Air holes for barometer (APM2)

Hi there,

I'm on my first quad and still have my training wheels on, so looking for some advice.

I've just added a plastic container (which seals very well) to the frame to provide some cover to the sensitive parts (APM 2, camera etc) and was wondering how many holes and where they should go to make sure the barometer works efficiently.

I'm guessing that it would be better to have them on the top/bottom to limit the effects of wind and the copter moving itself causing differences in pressure? is this the case? and if I have a container that is roughly 10x10x8cm what area of holes should I punch in it?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Alex.

    Hello Alex,

There was a post about this a while back, I did look to see if I could find it, however I could not!

The final thoughts were that a box which seals very well, like a food container was not great as there was not a way for the baro to get a good reading, so I believe from menory the best option which came up was to place some small holes in the side (about a few mm in size), and cover with a felt pad like you would if the APM was left in the open, this would have the same result and still offer procection if you have a hard landing or if you were out and it started to rain.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards

    Martin
