Yes some ESCs do not have the same responsiveness. So this modify for sure optimal PID settings.

If the new ESCs do not have a fast response time (needed for a multi setup), perhaps you will never get the stabilization performance you had with originals ESCs.

FastPWM is used inside ACM code (160 Hz refresh rate) so that the low pass filter cutoff frequency is artificially rised in the ESC. This is a simple efficient and low cost method to give a faster response time to a stock ESC, without firmware modification.

Eventually this trick does not work with ESCs where the low pass filter cutoff frequency does not depend from the PWM input frequency.

Some ESCs could even refuse to work or work incorrectly with a FastPWM input (more than the 50 Hz normal PWM frequency seen on a receiver output).

If you are not an ESC scpecialist and you don't have time to make tests or don't want to take some risks, i would recommand to stay with original brand ESCs.
