Any advice for PIDs for 3DR Hexa?

Greetings all..

I'm a new owner of a 3dr hexa kit with 880 motors and 11" props.. I built it last week, and have had it up a few times, learning stable hover flight..

I was wondering if anyone else with a hexa has some advice of what might need to be tuned right out of the box to help get the default PIDs set for the motor/prop combo I have. I've seen the general PID wiki page for the quad, but haven't seen a peep from anyone with a hex anywhere..

Right off the bat, I've played a bit with loiter, and have seen the 10 foot pendulum others have talked about - I believe it's due to overshooting the target, and am going to lower the PIDs a bit and test..

Any other advice/best practices for a hexa?

Thanks!

Mike

(PS - I took my own advice and make sure my props are nice and tight and even have a very small dab of blue locktite on the motor shafts after one of my props flew off 3 flights out - any I got it on gopro video during flight - oops :) )

  • I also have a 3dr hexa with 880kv motors and 11" props. I was doing fine with default settings up until about 3 weeks ago. Now, it flies great in stabalize, but loiter shoots off into the distance for no apparent reason. We've tried everything we can thing of besides playing with the PIDs. I've tried doing some research but honestly i'm quite lost as to how i'm supposed to modify these settings correctly. Some default values specifically for our generic setup would be great! Anyone?
