the openpilot board I have is very smooth and wobble free once the PIDs were tuned. My APM2, OTOH is giving me more of a challenge. I just cannot get rid of the bounce without the controls feeling like mush. I was wondering if anyone with both boards have gotten them to perform the same?
The only thing I can think of is that I reflashed the ESCs on my openpilot board with the simonk fw. The APM2 has the non flashable silabs ESCs.
If I can get my APM2 flying as smooth as the OP board, it will be a winner.

I have hard times setting it up too.
Using 750kv rctimer motors (tried with 3s or 4s without any big changes).
20A rctimer escs. Mounted in Hexa frame, 11x5 props.
and can't get it very stable.
What do you think of flashing custom firmware into ESCs? do they perform much better?
Oh, I can make it fly more or less table in stabilized mode, altitude hold is OK.. but I can't make it fly mission. It just overshoots the target and then goes faster back... so on an on.. tried to reduce the speed to waypoint and other PID. Just can't make it fly to the point and loiter there withing few meters..
