Had lots of fun with this one. It was one of the controllers I used to make this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPVtFDo83Us&list=UUo3OMj9gCzRMRq...

the openpilot board I have is very smooth and wobble free once the PIDs were tuned. My APM2, OTOH is giving me more of a challenge. I just cannot get rid of the bounce without the controls feeling like mush.  I was wondering if anyone with both…

chris g replied to Steve Castano's discussion Motor redundancy..... Y6? X8? Hexa? Octa? something new?
"If you want redundancy, Y6/Hexa is not recommended. If you lose a motor you will lose considerable lift. I have built quads, coax quads, hexas and y6s. The only configuration that still actually flies very well in a motor-out scenario is the coax…"

I took my APM2/Y6 out for its maiden today. At first, it seemed ok, a little wobbly, but this is only with a few PID iterations. Something just doesn't feel right though. After some forward flight in stabilize mode, if I return the elevator to…

My hexa is flying pretty smoothly, but it has a minor twitch even in a slight breeze. I want to set it up for video, so I'm more concerned with smooth rather than acro type movements.Ideally I would like the heli to slowly correct itself if it is…

chris g replied to Dane's discussion Arducopter 2.0.38 quad always wants to flip
"could be several things:
1) your accelerometer offsets were not set (in CLI or Mission Planner)
2) your motors/props are spinning in the correct direction, but ESCs are connected to the APM in the wrong order.
3) your APM is mounted in X mode but…"

naturally was pretty cool to see my arduhexa run a simple flight plan. i used 40 ft for my home and waypoint altitudes, but the heli easily hit 100 ft. quite disconcerting, as it gets small pretty fast.  in all GPS modes, loiter, rth and auto, the…
