3691022111?profile=originalIve now done 6 test flights with no luck. Im trying to use the camera shutter option (in the standard parameters) called trigger when 3m from waypoint. But so far, no luck.

Before we go any further, I'll say that my triggering setup works, and will trigger through the Mission Planner if I right click the map and select "trigger camera now". The camera will trigger in the air.

I am baffled as to why I cant make it trigger at the waypoint. Ive tried GRID v1 and GRID v2 with camera triggers.  However having separate camera triggers shouldn't matter because Im selecting "trigger when 3m from waypoint"

Im stumped. Ive uploaded an aerial photo that proves that I can snap a photo through the Mission Planner:

  • Looks like they have enabled trigger by distance in 2.74. Thanks so much to the dev's.

  • Still struggling to get a camera to trigger at a waypoint, or even near a waypoint by using the APM2.5 (Quad Setup). Can anyone please provide step by step instructions on how to setup a waypoint program to trigger the camera near/at a waypoint? I already have the interval option through the StratoSnapper but would like to have the APM2.5 trigger the camera at waypoints.... Help would be greatly appreciated by all in this topic so far.

  • Can any developers chime in to confirm if there are plans to enable the distance to waypoint function that is already in MP.

I have not read all the comments to perhaps you have a solution..

But one idea would be to simply use an IR camera trigger(assuming you camera can support this) and then on your mission plan, simply use the DO_Servo-Repeat function.. and connect the IR trigger to the relevant port on your APM

  • Matt,

    Look at this video:

You will see the note in the video about the 3D robotics servo switch. I THINK this is what is missing on the 2.5 board and needs to be added separately.

Here's the link for the entire video:

    Hello,

I also have an issue with camera trigger. I simply try to activate a switch on my transmitter, that is mapped to channel 7 IN on the APM. So far so good, I see on my HUD display in mission planner the value CH7in changing from low PWM value to high PWM value when I flip the switch.

But this is the furthest I get: nothing happens on the servo that is connected to the analog AN8 (or AN5 was tried too). AN8 was configured as "RC8" in the camera hardware config menu to trigger a camera.

I do not understand what's wrong. It should work.

  • A detailed rant video I made showing my problems...

  • ok, more posting because Im wracking my brain on this.

John, you said the MP knows how to control the trigger using the do_set_servo. I set the PWM values for CH7 to 1000 and 2000 in the advanced menu, and set the CH7 output to disabled in the standard menu. The trigger type is set to trigger when 3m from waypoint.

Is that it? I should be able to have it fly to a waypoint and it will trigger the shutter at the waypoint?
