Hi,I have a secondhand Hexa with APM 1 and latest firmware, xbee pro 900 and gcs.I have ordered the new Purple 2, but wold like to get the APM 1 going to practise and put it on a Bixler when the new one arrives for my Hexa. The Mag was not working and when I went to replace it it looks like the board is damaged from the previous solder job (holes for pins look a little burnt).MP terminal test says 'bad compass' I plan to use the other 12c 'no gps' ublox plug and mount the mag externally. Will this work??Will this work with only GPS if I remove the compass (less accurate I believe)or should I just get a new IMU Oilpan?I have read everything I could, but can find the answer

To make sure I understood correctly, are the burned pads on the oilpan and not the magnetometer? The molex connector on the oilpan labeled "No GPS!" can be used for mounting the Magnetometer externally. You can see how to do this here in the ArduPlane Manual. Unfortunately, if the metal on the I2C pads (solder holes) on the oilpan are burned off, then the "No GPS!" molex connector won't work either since the traces to the molex connector are connected to the I2C pads.
The ArduPlane does not require a magnetometer, so you can still fly your Bixler without the mag.
