I'm going to use APM 2.0 for my quadcopter, i just want to fly quad using RC that is autonomous flight is not required, so does that mean i do not need to buy GPS module that is otherwise essential for automatic flight?

i read it here that it requires a GPS module for automatic flight.

if it is already on board why would they place a picture of it separately? O.o
APM 2.5 and 2.6 don't have a GPS onboard, APM 2.0 does and your post says APM 2.0.
If you don't need the benefits of the Nav modes then rather get a KK2 or similar flight controller than an APM 2.5 or 2.6. They're much cheaper.
If you plan to use the Nav modes later and purchase a GPS later then yes AFAIK you can fly without a GPS.
APM 2.0 has a GPS onboard.
