APM 2.5 Optical flow enabled weirdness

I have my QAV500 platform tuned very well with 2.8.1, i can let go of sticks and have it maintain position for quite a while without any input.

However, today I finally got around to enabling the optical flow sensor, following the wiki, ensuring that it was 3.3v etc. It tests out just fine with the example sketch, but when running 2.8.1 it doesnt return the same type of output with internal tests.

Also, now that I have it enabled, it seems as tho it is interfering with the stability of the quad. It twitches a LOT, and it seems to be slow/error prone on corrections. Near the end of my flight just now, the entire quad decided that it was about 16 degrees off center left to right and i had to correct it with significant stick input to land.  Could this be corruption introduced by the optical flow sensor itself through the level shifter?

I will do some more testing and update with what I find.

  • Dan,

Would you mind posting your settings / file? I just got a QAV500 and my APM 2.5 is on the way.

    Thanks
