Hi all,

I'm a mac user and have been using bootcamp and Windows 7 so I can use the Windows version of Mission Planner.  Somewhere recently, I saw a post that had a link to a beta version of the Mac OSX AP Planner.  I downloaded that and it seemed to work decent for me.  It had a slightly different look, as expected, but it sure was nice not having to load Bootcamp.

The reason for the post is that I believe I uncovered an issue when trying to calibrate the compass on my Y6 using the Mac OSX version of Mission Planner.  I probably tried 6-10 times just as was shown on the several instructional videos, but I kept getting that the 'offsets were too high'.  I finally gave up and thought that I was doing something wrong, so I just put it away.  The next night, I decided to use the Windows version of Mission Planner and did the exact same  process as before.  It worked perfectly on the first try.  I just thought I'd throw it out there in case someone else has experienced the same minor issue.

  • I am also getting 0.00 values for both GPS entries in the Flight Data/Quick tab , GPS Sats and GPS fix.

The compass I found spot on with 0 entered for Declination which I thought a bit strange as it was such a picky requirement to setup under windoze.

  • I tried this last night

Received unpackaged and setup my APM2.6 + ext compass + 3drRadio

In windows it setup almost out of the box, jsut a few driver installs and were away. Compass was accurate to about 1 metre (with buidings and trees around me)

Then switched to my macbook, and seemed to not get any compass information.

Mission planner loads fine, says it is connected to the radios etc, but in flight data tab it is not showing correct position of plane/compass (its center on world map)

Is this what you guys were gettign also?

I've experienced similar, not just with AC, but also Rover. In my case, over telemetry, I suffered APM Planner crash. On crash, I would lose the keyboard also. As a workaround, I simply used the CLI to calibrate, and had no problems. Because I lose the keyboard as a result, and because rover is not a focus of APM planner at the moment, and because new revisions of APM planner are expected to drop soon, I have done very limited fault isolation so far.
  • Could you include the link please.

I would like to check it out.

    Are you referring to QGroundControl?
